Certain documents and situations cannot legally be notarized.

Examples include:

  • Incomplete documents with blank spaces
  • Documents without the signer present
  • Documents missing notarial wording
  • Copies of certain official records such as birth certificates or court-issued documents
  • Documents requiring legal advice or legal document preparation
  • Situations involving coercion, confusion, or lack of awareness

What do I need to get started?

To prepare for your appointment, please have the following ready:

What if my driver’s license is expired?

In Florida, certain expired driver licenses may still be accepted if issued within the last five years.

Additional identification requirements may apply depending on the situation.

What if my ID was issued more than five years ago?

Identity may potentially be verified through the credible witness method when legally permitted.

This process requires two impartial witnesses who personally know the signer and can verify their identity.

What other forms of identification can I use?

Acceptable forms of identification may include:

  • U.S. Passports
  • Foreign Passports with proper immigration stamps
  • State-issued Identification Cards
  • Military Identification
  • Veteran Health Identification Cards
  • Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards)

If you are unsure whether your identification qualifies, please contact us before your appointment.

What if all signers cannot be present?

Each signer must personally appear before the notary at the time of notarization.

If all parties cannot attend together, separate appointments may be scheduled.

What if my document requires witnesses?

Some documents require witnesses in addition to notarization.

Witnesses must generally be impartial individuals who are not related to the transaction or named within the document.

Witnesses may be provided for an additional fee when available.

What if my document was emailed to me and I cannot print it?

Printing services are available.

Documents may be printed in preparation for your appointment, and additional copies can also be provided if needed.
